Way to go, Karl!
ICL's former executive director was just named regional administrator for EPA Region 7.
When I was first hired as ICL's executive director, Karl Brooks was serving in the post. This was back in 1995. Before that, Karl had been working for ICL as a fundraiser. After I was hired, he stayed on to help us lobby in the Idaho Legislature, a role comfortable for him after six years serving in the Idaho Senate.
Karl is a busy and ambitious fellow. After his ICL time, he left his native home in Idaho for a PhD program in Kansas; he's been teaching there since. He also has a law degree from Harvard and a BA from Yale.
We're pleased to see that the Obama administration captured Karl's energy and commitment and appointed him to this important job representing the Environmental Protection Agency in the Midwest. And ICL welcomes one of our own to the administration.
