Get out on Lake Pend Oreille and explore Pearl Island with ICL member and former kayaking guide Matt Davidson. Pearl Island is a Canada Goose nesting site managed by Idaho Fish and Game and one of the lake’s only two islands with public access. Get the most out of summer with a paddle out on the lake, lunch on the island, and some beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
The group will set off from Sam Owen State Park and paddle to Pearl Island where paddlers can explore around the island and swim if they choose. After eating lunch we will paddle back to Sam Owen.
Sam Owen State Park requires an entrance fee of $8 per vehicle so bring some cash.
Kayakers must provide their own kayaks, life vests and whistles. Also bring lunch, snacks, sunscreen, sunhat and plenty of water. And don’t forget to pick up the 2017 aquatic species sticker and post it on your kayak. The sticker can be purchased online, at an Idaho state park or selected vendors.
Registration required: This trip is limited to 8 people, so RSVP and claim your spot by registering online or calling the North Idaho office. Details about meeting place will be provided when you register.
