Tips For a Safe and Fun Hike

information about our hiking trips

  • Hikers should be in good physical condition.
  • Remember to pack your day-outing basics: plenty of water, snacks/meal, sunscreen, insect repellent, hat, rain shell, layered clothing, first aid kit, prescriptions and any additional items you need to have a fun and safe outing.
  • For winter hikes bring extra layers of clothing (thermals, fleece, water proof pants), gloves, knit hat, scarf, extra socks, and appropriate footwear depending on activity. For snowshoeing wear big durable water proof boots.
  • Be prepared for all types of weather and always wear appropriate shoes. Some hikes are multi-day and require hikers to provider their own camping gear.
  • Some hikes require extra strong tires for bad roads.
  • Some hikes may require a fee for parking or for trail use.
  • Dogs are not allowed on hikes for the benefit of wildlife and wildlife viewing and safety of other hikers in the group.
  • Idaho Conservation League hike leaders are volunteers and are not certified guides, however they are experienced and confident in leading groups and are familiar with the terrain.
  • Hike at your own risk!
