Community Amenities Improve Health
Community access to parks, sidewalks, and farmers' markets makes for healthier families.
Fall is such a great time of year for enjoying the bounties of Idaho—apples, squash, cider, sun and strange, windy weather. Boise, the city were I have decided to raise my dog, offers many a wonderful thing to enjoy on a Saturday morning. Particularly the farmers' market.
I came across an article in the Vancouver Sun about a study showing that access to parks, farmers' markets and sidewalks reduced an individual's risk of developing diabetes by almost 40%.
No matter where you live in Idaho, chances are there are parks and farmers' markets close by. Take some time to enjoy a walk, purchase fresh and healthy food, and consider that these community amenities are actually making your family healthier.
