Here are some tips on how to make your next outdoor barbecue more environmentally friendly.
‘Tis the season for outdoor barbecues and picnics! This summer, make your outdoor gatherings friendlier to the environment by grilling greener.
- Opt to use ecofriendly charcoal. Burning lump coal harvested from sustainably managed forests or briquettes without additives are better for you and the air. Look for brands certified by organizations like the Forest Stewardship Council. Check out this website for healthier charcoal-burning options.
- When it's time to clean up, make it easy for you and your guests to recycle. Supply labeled containers in which folks can put their plastic, glass, or paper recyclables. If you want to be especially green, bring along something to put food scraps in and compost! Oh, and don't forget to use natural cleaners, like SoyClean, for grimy messes.
- Last but not least, keep it local. Stop by your local farmers market and buy your grilling ingredients there.
Happy grilling everybody!
