Watch Your Ash!
Please do not burn along Idaho's shorelines!
It's spring and it's wet—or at least wetter than usual.
For some, that means it's the ideal time to clean up the yard and burn stuff.
While this may be a rite of spring in some circles, burning yard debris mucks up our air and water.
Before you burn, check out Idaho's burn restrictions and suggestions for alternatives, such as composting.
If you live along one of Idaho's lakes or rivers, don't pile your brush and yard debris down by the shoreline for burning.
The ash can then wash into the surface water, which increases the phosphorus levels and creates unsightly and stinky algae. Not only is it aesthetically displeasing, but fish don't like it either.
