There are plenty of alternatives to plastic wrap, a disposable, petroleum-based product.
Getting by without plastic wrap is quite easy and a smart, environmental, and healthy decision. If you don't buy it and have it in your house, you won't use it! Check out these alternatives!
Aluminum Foil
- It can be used the same way as plastic wrap.
- It can be recycled.
- It can be reused by simply cleaning and storing it.
Reusable Containers
- Containers by Tupperware, Glad or Pyrex are a great way to store leftover food.
- Pyrex glass containers are safer and healthier for use in the microwave, freezer or oven.
Use What You've Got
- Cover a bowl with a plate if it doesn't have a lid.
- Place leftovers in jars with screw-top lids.
- Place apples, lemons, onions, and other produce cut-side down on a plate in the fridge—no covering necessary!
Some things are harder to quit cold turkey—but plastic wrap is something you can quit without easing away from it.
