Many different forms of certification exist for household products these days. So it's difficult to separate fact from fiction. Some labels have a standard definition and are provided to certified manufacturers once their products are inspected and approved by qualified agencies or associations. Other labels, without standard definitions or certification requirements, can border on greenwashing.

If you value the health of your family and the environment, reading labels with an informed eye can allow you to choose products that fit your values and your budget.

I will post tips on different labels over the next few weeks as I come across them during my shopping escapades. If you encounter a new label, let me know and I will do the dirty work to find the truth behind the claim.
