Where's the Beef?
Find delicious local beef, and purchase direct from the producer.
There was a time when you could go to the butcher and find out firsthand where your meat came from and who processed it. These days, with large animal feeding operations and mega-grocery stores, that information is harder to come by.
But if you live in Idaho and you can't live without a good steak or hamburger, you don't have to settle for mystery meat.
Idaho has many small organic beef producers who offer quality meat at a pretty good price. The catch here? You usually need to buy in bulk. Most small producers sell boxes of meat, and unless you have a huge additional freezer, it's best to go in with others on your purchase. Ask around at your local grocery store, check for these folks at your farmers' market, call the Idaho Department of Agriculture or search online.
It's satisfying to support your local organic farmer and know where your meat came from, what it ate and how it was processed.
