Get Crafty with Used Paper
Cut back on paper trash in the office. Create a recycled paper notebook.
The average American throws away 4.6 lbs of trash a day. That's over 1,600 lbs per person per year. That's 250 million tons of waste in American landfills per year. And that's a lot of trash!
Paper and food waste are the largest contributors to landfills, making up about half the waste. These materials are the easiest to recycle.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average office worker uses 10,000 sheets of copy paper every year. This is a good place to start cutting back.
Start printing documents doublesided. Save scraps of paper to write notes on and always, always recycle. Think twice before you print. Maybe you can just view the document on the computer.
Another cool idea? Make recycled notebooks out of all the extra paper lying around. Raid the recycle bin for singlesided goodies. eHow has a video that is helpful.
