Green Up Your Office

— filed under:

Interested in updating a home or work office?

If you're looking to refurnish your home or work office, your purchasing choices can demonstrate your environmental ethic.

  • Purchase secondhand furniture. You may have secondhand furniture stores in your area, as well as the thrift stores. Boise has a great secondhand furniture store, Renewal. Prices are often right, and you may be amazed by the finds.
  • If you must buy new, buy sustainable. We can do better than a landfill. If you want new furniture, purchase from a company that has a recycling plan—that is, they take back furniture and reuse parts to make new items. Herman Miller is the best example I have found of a complete holistic sustainable model. This company uses Cradle to Cradle products and follows a philosophy of transforming human industry through ecologically intelligent design.
