Join us to learn what you can do to protect the Boise River from a new mining threat. A Canadian mining company, Mosquito Gold, hopes to construct the CuMo open-pit molybdenum mine in the headwaters between Idaho City and Garden Valley.
After our informational meeting, attend the Forest Service’s open house on mine road construction, open from 6 to 9 pm at the DoubleTree Riverside, and submit comments.
According to Mosquito Gold, this is one of the largest, open-pit accessible deposits in the world. We’re concerned because mining is the top toxic polluter in the United States, and past mines of this type have contaminated water supplies. The Forest Service is evaluating a proposal to construct up to 13 miles of exploration roads, the next step toward building the mine.
