Board Announced to Oversee Levy
Blaine County Commissioners, staff, and nonprofit partners have created the levy advisory board.
Last year, Blaine County voters approved the Land, Water and Wildlife Levy providing public funding for protection of clean water, wildlife habitat and working farms and ranches.
The County commissioners, staff and the nonprofit partners who helped to create the levy -- Idaho Conservation League, Wood River Land Trust, the Nature Conservancy and Citizens for Smart Growth -- have spent the past year studying the best practices and methods for creating a levy advisory board to help guarantee a successful program, according to Mary Austin Crofts.
The levy advisory board will act as a citizen oversight committee and will consist of: Barb Acker, Mary Austin Crofts, Trent Jones, Wendy Pabich, Tom Page, Alan Reynolds, Lili Simpson, Ben Sinnamon and Trent Stumph.
The two-year levy will raise nearly $3.5 million to help protect clean water in the Big Wood and Little Wood River watersheds, preserve fish and wildlife habitat and work to protect working farms, ranches and open space.
The committee is scheduled to meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 6 p.m. at the main meeting room of the Old County Courthouse in Hailey. The public is welcome to attend.
Levy documents, agendas and other materials are available on the Blaine County website under planning and zoning at http://www.co.blaine.id.us/ For more information contact Mary Austin Crofts at 721-2827.
