The city of Twin Falls may have to spend $3 million to $6 million on more upgrades to its wastewater plant, unless its appeal of its new federal permit succeeds.
The permit regulates flows of treated wastewater into the Snake River from the plant just west of the Perrine Bridge.
Regulators with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency signed off on the new permit last September. But after both the city and the Idaho Conservation League appealed portions of the language, the EPA announced last fall it would temporarily suspend sections pertaining to limits on total suspended solids (TSS) and pollutant trading until the appeals are resolved.
