2009 southwest hiking series
BOISE – It’s time to head outside with Idaho Conservation League’s 2009 southwest Idaho hiking series! Whether you are new to Idaho or a native this is a perfect opportunity to explore or find a new appreciation for Idaho’s spectacular landscapes, lakes, streams and wildlife!
The hiking series kicks off with its’ first hike this weekend. Join hike leader, Christina Smith, on Sunday May 3rd for a hike in the vast Owyhee foothills in the Hemingway Butte Play Area. This area is remote with fantastic high desert landscapes and views of the Snake River.
Don’t miss the blooming wildflowers in the Boise foothills with a handful of hikes from Tuner Gulch to Dry Creek. When the heat is on in the valley, head to McCall for some cooler hikes to beautiful mountain lakes and pine forests or head to Jennie Lake in the Boise National Forest, near the town of Atlanta. For expert hikers, this summer may be your chance to climb Idaho’s highest peak, Mount Borah.
The Idaho Conservation League’s annual hiking series is a benefit of membership and provides members the opportunity to explore new places in Idaho’s great outdoors and meet other hikers. Not a member? You can join at an introductory rate of $15. You may join when you register for a hike.
