ICL is pleased to welcome Jonas Seiler as our new Conservation River Fellow! Although originally from Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Jonas considers Idaho home. As a river guide, fly angler, skier, and kayaker, he has learned to love Idaho’s wild rivers and fish, and has developed a special relationship with many of Idaho’s wild places.

At ROW Adventures, where he’s a lead river guide, Jonas has educated many of ROW’s river guests and staff about the plight of Idaho’s salmon and steelhead. His favorite things about guiding in Idaho are the warm weather, great whitewater, incredible scenery, intriguing wildlife and sense of solitude.

Jonas is also a dual citizen who is equally at home in Denmark. He is fluent in Danish and with his guiding experience can cook for groups of 30 or more. His sense of oneness with the outdoors led him to pursue his Bachelor of Science at Colorado State University, where he studied Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism.

The Conservation River Fellow position with ICL was developed to bring Idaho river guides into the conservation world, and give them professional skills and experiences that could help further their career. Jonas will be working closely with ICL staff and our conservation partners to build relationships with outfitters across the state to bring about local and statewide conservation policy change for salmon, steelhead and Idaho rivers.

Jonas will be spending most of his time in Boise, but will be traveling around the state a bit visiting with local outfitters, so keep an eye out! If you don’t spot Jonas in your community or on the river, you may find him with an IPA in hand listening to some live music.
