Project/Role: Part-time, temporary Event Assistant
Supervisor: Sophie Hackett, Development Associate
Compensation: $21/hour
Location: Boise, ID
Start Date: Begins May 1, for up to 5 months. End date negotiable, but no earlier than September 1 and no later than October 1.
Overview:
ICL is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with events around the state throughout the summer. The development team at ICL is seeking support with these event details from a part-time event assistant. The event assistant will help with the logistics of the event invites, planning, and execution, as well as support donor follow-up pertaining to 50th anniversary fundraising goals. This role offers the opportunity for some travel around Idaho to various event locations, collaboration with the development and external relations teams, and the fostering of a conservation community through meaningful events.

As Idaho’s leading voice for conservation we represent Idahoans who want to protect Idaho’s natural heritage and leave a legacy for future generations. We work on a breadth of issues and are successful because of the support of our statewide members.
Responsibilities
Event logistics support (60%):
Aid event planner in tasks pertaining to the event, invitations, and follow-up. Tasks include, but are not limited to, printing, merging, and compiling event programs and nametags, coordinating with caterers and drink providers for events, supporting the arrangement of guest accommodations, coordinating event invitations, gathering raffle items or other supplies for events, and checking in guests at events and managing guest list. On event dates, long hours may be required for set up and take down of the event.
Donor support (30%):
Throughout the 50th anniversary summer of celebrations, the ICL development team aims to bring in 1,000 new members and cultivate current members to increase their contributions. As such, the event assistant will support the development team in making thank you calls and signing thank you notes, when needed, especially during Idaho Gives (May 1-4), and after each event. The event assistant will also support fundraising mailings out of the Boise office, with tasks such as folding and signing letters, merging and printing appeals, and working with volunteers to send large mailings.
Other (10%):
Complete all required paperwork (timesheets, work plans), and take on other projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team, while also showing strong self-initiative
- Dedication to ICL’s mission of protecting Idaho’s environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of relevant experience coordinating events or programs
- Understanding of standard nonprofit fundraising and development practices

- May 19-21: Wild Idaho! Conference (Stanley, Idaho)
- June 27: Cultivation event (Ketchum, Idaho)
- July 21: Cultivation event (McCall, Idaho)
- August date TBD: Cultivation event (Canyon County, Idaho)
- August dates TBD: Three donor events (East Idaho)
- September 22: 50th fundraiser (Boise, Idaho)
Time Commitment
This position is a part-time, hourly position for the summer of 2023. The position will average 15-20 hours per week, including occasional nights and weekends. ICL will work with the candidate to determine hours that work best for both parties.
Compensation
$21/hour. A computer and workspace in ICL’s Boise office, and paid travel accommodations for the events that the candidate attends.
