Closing coal-fired power plants and investing in clean energy are essential to protecting our air and climate. So we need your voice at an upcoming public hearing on Avista’s proposed rate increase. We need your help to keep Idaho moving in the right direction.
Avista is requesting millions of dollars over the next two years for capital improvements to the Colstrip coal-fired power plant. At ICL we feel that ratepayer money should be invested in clean energy, not spent propping up a dying industry. In addition, Avista should be clear about whether these investments would extend the life of the Colstrip plant.
In response to Avista’s proposal to raise its electric rates, the Idaho Public Utilities Commission staff are holding a public hearing to take testimony from members of the public and Avista customers. This is a critical opportunity to send a message to Avista that Idahoans do not want to keep investing in an obsolete coal plant like Colstrip.
Join us in Coeur d’Alene to speak up for a clean-energy future for Idaho!
