Join ICL 2018 artist in residence (AiR) Jessica L. Bryant for a conversation about the unique AiR experience at the Art Spirit Gallery. Jessica has served as artist in residence in numerous programs —including national parks. AiR positions offer adventurous artists the opportunity for unparalleled experiences that provide a depth of knowledge and context of subject matter to inspire their work.
Hear about Jessica’s plans to focus her ICL residency on Idaho’s wild and scenic rivers and the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. She will also share some of her National Park Service AiR experiences and the positive impact that AiR programs have for these natural spaces, the artist, the local community, and the artist’s home community.
Jessica’s diverse, often unexpected, experiences in past artist residencies have included assisting with a bison roundup, learning to identify and discover fossils in the field, spotlighting and trapping black-footed ferrets for research, working with scientists in the wilderness of Alaska’s arctic lagoons, participating in sled dog training, field work with endangered desert tortoises, field education on highly protected archaeological sites, and countless miles of hiking across a vast diversity of ecosystems.
And yes, that’s a Jessica L. Bryant painting you’re looking at!
