The Idaho Conservation League works hard to promote energy efficiency and wise use of existing energy resources. A large amount of the energy that we use in our homes and business is wasted through leaking windows, outdated equipment or poor building choices. This waste affects our environment—and our pocketbook.
The city of Boise is proposing to adopt updated building codes to advance—or keep up with—other standards for energy efficiency. These updated codes will reduce home energy costs by 10 to 15 percent. By supporting approval of these codes at a public hearing of the Boise City Council, we as a conservation community can speak up for energy efficiency and quality housing for renters and buyers. By cutting out wasted energy before construction, people save on their energy consumption, and we protect Idaho’s environment.
The city of Boise needs you to voice your support for improved energy efficiency today. You can attend the public hearing and/or comment on the city’s proposed updates to building and energy codes.
