Boise–How Clean Is Our Water?

Nearly every city in Idaho is located on the banks of a river or lake. Why? Because these waterbodies play a key role in getting rid of a community’s sewage. But when someone flushes a toilet, the contents do not go straight into the water. This sewage is first processed in the community’s wastewater treatment plant.

The Idaho Conservation League just completed a report that looks at how effective those wastewater treatment plants really are at keeping our water clean. What we found isn’t good. Of the 114 treatment plants reviewed, ICL found that 81% of them have violated the Clean Water Act within the last three years.

Join us Monday, Oct 23, to learn how Boise’s wastewater treatment plant stood up to scrutiny. ICL’s program director, Justin Hayes, will provide an in-depth analysis of ICL’s report and explain how we can work toward cleaner water.

No RSVP is required. Just bring your curiosity, sense of humor and appetite for knowledge!
