This month’s Tour of the Reserves features Hillside to the Hollow Reserve. This reserve is revered for the abundance and steepness of its trails, great views into Boise, and large off-leash areas. The city of Boise owns 258 of the total 317 acres, with the Land Trust of the Treasure Valley owning the remaining 59 acres.
Join us for a hike on the all-weather trail and hear how the LTTV acquired the property! Registration is required, so RSVP to Lana and find out where we will meet. Prepare for mixed weather conditions. If the trails are too muddy, we will cancel this event.
The city of Boise, Foothills Learning Center and ICL are offering this exciting year-long adventure series, Tour of the Reserves, to help those of us lucky enough to live in or near Boise to get to know our backyard. Some months include short hikes; others include walking presentations and historical stories.
The city of Boise’s foothills open space includes 11 reserves. In total, the city manages roughly 4,000 acres and 40 miles of trails within its reserves, all differing in elevation and accessibility. The reserve ecosystems include riparian habitat, grassland and alpine forests, and they are home to creatures large and small.
