The appropriation for the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) provides funding for numerous programs aimed at protecting clean water, clean air, and our quality of life. Out of the total $72 million, a full $29 million is funded by the federal government.
Additional funds included in the spending measure include $2 million in funding for nutrient management in Lake Coeur d’Alene, $573,200 for a National Academy of Sciences study on Lake Cd’A, $1 million for an Agricultural Best Management Practices Fund for statewide water quality improvement projects, $3 million for cleanup at the Triumph Mine Site (that suffered yet another tunnel collapse after the March 2020 Stanley quake) and more.
