The Wilderness Society recently presented the Idaho Conservation League with their 2015 Environmental Hero Award. This award is given to leaders that are effecting real conservation gain on the ground.

The Environmental Hero award recognizes the important leadership of the ICL in helping to advance the protection of the Boulder-White Clouds, now America’s newest designated wilderness area. This effort had been underway for more than 40 years before Congress passed the Boulder-White Clouds wilderness bill this year.

The award also recognized the enduring partnership between the nationally based Wilderness Society and ICL, which over many years has helped to build a broader and more sophisticated conservation movement in Idaho.

"The partnership between The Wilderness Society and the Idaho Conservation League dates back decades and involves nearly every significant conservation issue and campaign in Idaho," said Craig Gehrke, the regional director for the Idaho office of The Wilderness Society. "The most enduring and the most significant conservation wins in Idaho happen through partnerships. We’re privileged and honored to work with the Idaho Conservation League."
